It is with profound sadness, Helen’s family wishes to announce her passing on November 27, 2015. Helen was a beacon of love that shone on everyone who came into her life.
She leaves a loving legacy, survived by her husband of 62 years, Stanley Oszytko Sr; her sons; Richard (Dawna-Rae) Chaban; Stanley (Nadine) Oszytko Jr; Peter (Tonya) Oszytko. She was known as Baba and Grandma to 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and Auntie Helen to numerous nieces and nephews. Her very special niece, Jodi Demery along with her family were great sources of care, devotion and love for which we are eternally grateful. Also to mourn her passing is her brother, William “Bill” (Barbara) Collins in Kelowna, BC. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Andrew (Pa) and Ruth (Nam) Collins and her brother, Jack Collins.
Helen was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and as a young girl moved with her family to Edmonton. She moved to Calgary where she married her husband, Stan. A short time later, they returned to Edmonton to raise their family. For many years she was employed at CN and after retiring, worked at the Rosslyn Bowling Alley. Her favourite time was organizing and assisting with the Senior Leagues and the Special Olympic Athletes. Everyone loved that smile, the twinkle in her eyes and getting hugs from Helen.
Thank you to the staff of Unit 41, Royal Alexandra Hospital for their care and support.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Monday, December 7, 2015 between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm at Evergreen Funeral Chapel, 16204 Fort Road, Edmonton.
