Leonard (Len) Tamke
December 3, 1927 - July 23, 2016
Leonard (Len) Tamke passed away peacefully in his home in Edmonton Alberta Saturday July 23, 2016 at the age of 88. He is survived by his brother Robert, sister Hertha, nephew Blair, of Saskatoon; niece Brenda (Leonard), great-niece Madison and great-nephew Ryan of Okotoks, longtime companion Jacqueline of Edmonton. He will be missed by both friends and family.
After immigrating to Canada, the family spent one year in St. Catherines, Ontario before relocating to farm in the Haultain district in Saskatchewan, where Leonard was born and raised before leaving to pursue a teaching degree. Leonard taught elementary school for many years in Saskatchewan, Germany and Alberta. He enjoyed curling, golf and traveling the world.
A private family interment for close friends and family will be held in August at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Leonard has asked that any donations be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society.
