Lois was born in Irma, Alberta, and grew up on the family farm north of town with her parents Arlie (Prosser) and Reuben Patterson and her brother Wallace (“Sonny”) Patterson. Lois received her schooling at Education Point; moved on to Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta; and finished at the University of Alberta with a Permanent Junior E Certificate in Education in 1960.
