<div itemprop="description">On September 15, 2016 Doris May Bodard (nee Simmons) passed away at the age of 93 years. She was born February 4, 1923 to Bessie and George Simmons in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, the middle child of five girls. <br> <br>She was accomplished on the piano and electric organ. She had a lovely alto singing voice. She loved to knit, crochet and never turned down a chance to play a table game or cards. She played Canasta for several years every week before her eyes failed her. <br> <br>Doris is survived by three sons and one daughter; Robert, Philip and Patrick all of Edmonton, Alberta; Lorna (Clay) Dye of Sherwood Park, Alberta; two granddaughters, Reyna (Chris) Baillie of Sherwood Park, and Maureen (Chris) Andrew of Edmonton; six great-grandchildren Nathan, Jesse, Edie, Bryn, Rhys and Ruby. <br> <br>Doris also is survived by one sister Gloria Mahaffey of Welland, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. <br> <br>Doris was predeceased by her son Stuart in 2001 and her husband of 59 years, George in 2008. <br> <br>She was also predeceased by her sisters; Edith Sommerfeld, Lorna Quarton and Sylvia Dimock. <br> <br>Mom’s wish was that there would not be a funeral service. We are honoring her wishes knowing that all of us will have our individual memories of Doris in our hearts forever. <br> <br>If desired memorial donations can be made to, Osteoporosis Canada, at www.osteoporosis.ca or a charity of your choice. <br> <br>The family would like to express our appreciation and thank you to the Doctors, nurses and staff at Laurier House for their care and kindness to Mom during her stay there. <br> <br>Doris’s final resting place will be with her husband at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Edmonton. <br></div>
